The department is part of the "Land Resources and Cadastre" faculty and was established in 2004 as a result of the merger of the previous "Geodesy" and "Land Cadastre" departments. It is one of the main specialized departments of the faculty. It should be recognized that the "Geodesy" and "Land Cadastre" departments have their own rich history. In particular, the "Geodesy" department was founded in 1920 by professor I.M. Lebedinsky, one of the organizers of the Central Asian State University, and in 1934, under the leadership of the head of the department M.I. Maslov, it was given to TIIAME NRU with the entire teaching staff. In 1963, the "Geodesy" department was divided into two - "Engineering geodesy" and "Aerophotogeodesy" departments. In 1989, due to the necessity of the times, these departments were reunited. From 1963 to 1976, the department was headed by the land surveyor who served in Uzbekistan, associate professor of technical sciences A.N. Nazirov, from 1976 to 1985, technical professor. associate professor H.M. Muborakov, 1986-1994, Ph.D. associate professor E.Kh.Nurmatov, professor S.I.Ibodullaev led the department in 1995-2004. The "Land Cadastre" department was established in 1949 as one of the main specialized departments of the faculty under the name "Design and improvement of rural residential areas". From 1949 to 1982, Professor P.K. Tatur, "Honored land developer in Uzbekistan", i.f.d., who led it from 1949 to 1982, was invaluable in the establishment and comprehensive strengthening of the department.

Professor A.S. Chertovskiy, Ph.D., V.V. Beshenov, Ph.D. associate professor K.R. Rahmonov, senior teacher T.I. Ismoilov, associate professor P.M. Kunyavsky, E.Kh. Nurmatov, I.M. Musaev, M.Kh. Rajapbaev's services are invaluable. In 1982-1992, the department was headed by associate professor B.I.Sibizov, in 1992-1999 by professor associate professor A.R. Babajonov, from 2012 to 2016, associate professor K. Rakhmonov, from 2004 to 2019, associate professor I.M. Musaev. Since 2019, the department has been headed by PhD, associate professor R.K. Oymatov. In addition to the training of highly qualified specialists, the team of the department focuses on the organization of rational and efficient use of land, geoinformatics, remote sensing of the earth, cartography, land cadastre, management of land resources, improvement of geodetic work, which is considered the basis of the agrarian reforms implemented in our republic. focused on carrying out large-scale scientific-research works, as well as high-level spiritual and educational work among students. In the last three years (2021-2023), 7 of the teachers of the department successfully defended their scientific work and received the PhD degree. As a result, the capacity of the department increased significantly. Also, in the period of 2021-2023, the department has published 25 training manuals, 5 textbooks, 4 methodological instructions, more than 100 scientific works published in Scopus and WoS databases. 11.00.07 - Doctoral studies in geoinformatics specialty were organized at the department, and more than 15 doctoral students have studied so far. Two of them received the PhD degree after successful defense.
