The department was founded in 2004 as a part of the Faculty of Land Use and Land Cadastre as a result of unification of previous departments of Geodesy and Land Cadastre, and is one of the main specialized departments of the faculty. It should be noted that the departments "Geodesy" and "Land cadastre" have their own rich history. Department of the "Geodesy" was founded by one of the organizer of the Central Asian State University, Professor I.Lebedinsky, in 1920.  By 1934 the chair was headed by M. Maslov. In 1963 the department of "Geodesy" was divided into two departments - "Engineering Geodesy" and "Aerofotogeodeziya". In 1989 these departments were reorganized. From 1963 to 1976, the department was headed by docent N.Nazarov, then in 1976-1985 years by docent X.Muborakov, 1986-1994 by docent E.Nurmatov, from 1995 to 2004 by professor S.I.Ibodullaev. Department of "Land Cadastre" was founded in 1949 as one of the main specialized deparment of the faculty "Engineering and improving farmhouses". From 1949 to 1982, Honored Locator of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor P. Taturin  had a significant place in organization and development of the department. From 1982 to 1992 the department was headed by docent B.S Tzibizov, 1992-1999 years by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Docent A.Bobojonov, in 2000-2004 by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Docent I.Musaev. A.Chertovitsky is a Professor and a V. Beshenov is a Candidate of Economic Sciences have also a significant role in the development of the department. From 2004 to 2012, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Docent Musaev. From 2012 to 2016 the department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Docent Q.Rakhmonov. In 2016 the name of the department was renamed as «Geodesy and Geoinformatics”. Nowadays the department is being headed by docent  I. Musaev. At the department is being payed a great attention to the training of high qualified specialists, and also to the  organization of rational and efficient use of land,  realization of large-scale scientific researchs in the sphere of geodesy, cartography,  land cadastre, planning and high spiritual works. The department is cooperating with departments of higher educational institutions of the Republic and abroad. Also with industrial and scientific engineering organizations.
